You’re Pregnant With Triplets – 3 Things To Do Now

What to know when you’re pregnant with triplets (from a real triplet mom)

Finding out you’re pregnant with triplets is something you never quite feel prepared for.

At first, it’s shock… then panic… and then the questions start rolling in:

  • How are we going to do this?
  • Where are we going to put three babies?
  • How do two parents take care of three newborns at once?

If your mind feels like it’s spinning, you’re not alone. I was right there too.

The good news? You don’t need to have everything figured out today. But there are a few things you can do early on that will make preparing for triplets feel a lot more manageable.

Here’s exactly where I started.

1. Find Your Triplet Mom Community (Your Lifeline)

The very first thing I recommend when you’re expecting triplets?
Find your community of moms who truly understand this season.

Triplet motherhood is unique, and while your friends and family may be incredibly supportive, there are parts of this experience that only other moms of multiples will fully get.

One of the easiest ways to find support is through social media.

Search for Facebook groups like Moms of Triplets or Moms of Multiples. These communities are incredibly valuable when you’re preparing for triplets because you can:

  • Search real-life advice on feeding, sleep schedules, and routines
  • Ask questions and get honest answers
  • Learn what actually works (and what doesn’t)

Facebook groups tend to be more interactive, while Instagram is a great place to learn and gather ideas and inspiration quietly.

Many triplet moms share their daily routines, newborn systems, and how they manage life with triplets, all of which can help you feel more prepared.

Here are a few triplet and multiples moms that I follow for real-life insight and support:

You may even be able to find someone local. I also connected with a triplet mom just a few towns away, and her advice, specific to my situation, made such a difference. She also checked in on me throughout my pregnancy, which meant more than I expected. And I have been able to do the same for a few expectant moms of multiples.

👉 You don’t have to figure out triplet motherhood on your own. Others have survived this before you and are happy to help.

2. Build Your Village Early (And Actually Accept Help)

Once you start sharing the news that you’re expecting triplets, something amazing happens: people want to help.

And here’s my biggest piece of advice: Say yes to ALL the help.

Even if you don’t need it right away, start keeping a running list of people who offer support. Because when the babies arrive, having that list will be everything.

Ways your village can support you:

  • Helping prepare for your triplets coming home
  • Supporting you during your NICU stay
  • Holding babies so you can shower or rest
  • Dropping off meals
  • Running errands or grocery shopping
  • Helping with laundry or light housework

If you’re planning to stay home with your babies, it can be helpful to loosely organize a schedule of helpers. Even one extra set of hands can completely shift your day.

A quick note on baby items (learn from my mistake)

You’ll likely be offered a lot of hand-me-downs, and while that can be incredibly helpful, try to be selective.

With triplets, items accumulate quickly.

If you’re not 100% sure you’ll use something, it’s okay to pass. You can always get what you need later, and keeping your space manageable will make those early days much less overwhelming.

Some families also explore additional support, such as:

  • Night nurses
  • Part-time nannies
  • Daycare options

There’s no one “right” way to do this, just what works best for your family and your capacity.

3. Prepare Early (Because Triplet Pregnancies Move Fast)

Pregnant with Triplets

If there’s one thing I wish more people told me about expecting triplets, it’s this:

Triplet pregnancies move fast.

Most triplets are born between 32 and 34 weeks. I delivered at 30 weeks, which meant I lost nearly a quarter of the time I thought I had to prepare.

On top of that, the physical demands of multiple pregnancies tend to show up earlier and more intensely.

So, if you’re wondering when to start preparing?

Start now.

Focus on:

  • Creating your baby registry for triplets
  • Setting up your nursery
  • Getting basic baby-proofing in place
  • Figuring out what your days will look like when babies are in the hospital and when they come home

We relied heavily on family and friends to help finish our nursery because my husband was working nonstop leading up to delivery.

Looking back, I’m so grateful we didn’t wait.

👉 When it comes to preparing for triplets, earlier is always better than later.

Final Thoughts: Support Will Be Everything in This Season

As you step into this next phase of life, one thing becomes very clear:

You are not meant to do this alone.

Support will show up in so many different ways:

  • Meals dropped off when you didn’t have time to cook
  • Someone folding laundry so you can sit and breathe
  • A friend holding a baby so you can finally take a shower

At first, accepting help might feel uncomfortable.

But in triplet motherhood, support isn’t extra; it’s essential.

So start writing things down:

  • Who offered help
  • What they offered
  • When they might be available

Because when the exhaustion hits (and it will), you won’t have to think, you’ll already know who to call.
